Clifford Riggleman: The IUP Program is much more suited to preparing a teacher to work with the deaf and hard-of-hearing population. It is very specific to that unique position as opposed to the combined degree at Towson. IUP has a great reputation for its education degree programs, so you won't be making a bad choice. I hire special education teachers in my current position and I know the state universities in PA do a very good job of preparing students for the classroom. They build-in a great deal more time for students to observe and work in real classrooms as opposed to waiting for student teaching....Show more

Alexander Villas: I think either of those programs would qualify you for the job as a teacher for the deaf. I know at Towson people looking to be a teacher have combined majors with education and whatever subject they wanted to teach. For example, someone wanting to be a high school math teacher would major in math and secondary education. Towson has a very reputable education program in its surrounding region.
