Is JTV (Jewelry Television) a legitimate/safe place to buy gemstones?

Ambrose Mumma: Customer Service sucks!! Its really hard to get a straight answer out of anyone who works there when your order is screwed up! No one could tell me why there isn't anything, anywhere on there website that tells you before you pay $20 for next day delivery that if you don't order by 2p.m that you will not get your order next day it will be a two day delivery! So, in actuality you could save 14 bucks and order two day delivery. AND Rick could be telling you anything..DONT believe the BS!! Kay or Zales may not buy directly from the mines but they are a lot more reputable!! and better Qaulity!! you advertise a stone looking one way and when you get it is POOR quality..are those REALLY from a diamond mind? and as far as returns, I purchased a diamond bracelet, gold over silver wore it to my daughters graduation and put in my jewelry box, when I took it out a week later it had already tarnished (faded), when I sent it back I was told my money could not be refunde! d because the item "looked" as if it had been submerged in a chemical. I told the CSR that was my point exactly and it had only been worn once. So to sum all this up, pay the extra money and go to Zales or Kay at least you can see what you are buying and Customer service is AWESOME!!!!!...Show more

Moira Woodrow: Yes it is absolutely safe so don't to worry and buy. For more details http://www.usignp.com/2012/10/my-jtv-preferred-acc...

Hye Caulley: AFTER I watch Television set I feel like I will be doing something more productive always

Miguel Koczela: I've purchased a number of items and have very good service. I've returned things a few times and never had a problem getting my refund. To me it seems to be a decent company. I'm no gemologist but neither are my friends. I buy for the APPARENT quality. If something looks bad I return it. Only once have I returned something to them because I felt the quality was not as expected.

Kim Gerbino: Jewel! ry Television Knoxville Tn

Wilmer Skidmore: Www.jtv.com

Anibal Katayama: Reading a good e book offers a richer experience and can leave you with remembrances that can last years. Television is merely educational if you're viewing a documentary or something similar

Ezekiel Kadner: Hi Kade, Yes, it's perfectly safe to shop on jewelrytelevision.com. In the interest of full disclosure, I work in E-Commerce for jewelry television! I also happen to be working on my GIA G.G., so I'll try to answer all of your questions. First, you're right to be suspicious about variation in pricing. Rubies, like most gemstones, come in a variety of conditions, sizes, etc. Fissure-filled will always be significantly cheaper than something that is not fissure-filled. Being fissure-filled isn't necessarily a bad thing, as long as you realize that it is, and if you like the way it looks. The average person can't tell, but an expert can tell immediately. Heat treatment is another common concern; heat treatment makes gemstones' color appear rich! er and deeper. This isn't a bad thing, as long as the seller let's you know. It's not dissimilar to a furniture store selling a table - you can assume that it's been stained and sealed (treated), and that's OK - it makes the table look better - but you should be told up-front. Markup varies greatly by retailer. With Macy's, you will definitely pay a greater mark up. I'm not an expert on Macy's, and can't honestly tell you if they buy from wholesalers or directly from mines, but I suspect they do not buy directly from mines, as we do at JTV. But that's only one of many things that determine price. Weight is another. Quality of color is another. The quantity and nature of various "inclusions" in the stone will also have a great impact on value. The depth of color is one of the most important determinants. A deeper, purer color will almost always be more valuable, all other factors being equal. Yes, we are the largest importer and seller of loose gemstones in the United States! , and I believe in the world. More than Zales, Kay, Blue Nile, or anyon! e else. We're the 139th-largest website in terms of revenue. And, since we don't have to pay ungodly rent for hundreds of stores, we don't have that expense to pass onto our customers. You are correct about "fissure-filled", and wise to wonder about it. The good news is that if you go to a reputable department store or local jewelry store, it's very unlikely that you'll get something that's fissure-filled unknowingly. The industry is very focused on proper disclosure. If you go to a Zales, Macy's, Blue Nile, or JTV.com, you should be pretty safe. If you buy from Uncle Leroy, then buyer beware!! Nevertheless - you should always ask the salesperson point blank if something is treated and if it's natural, synthestic, or a simulant. They should know. Lastly, everything on www.jewelrytelevision.com (or, www.jtv.com for short), is returnable within 30 days, no questions asked. We are based in Knoxville, TN, in case you were wondering!
