Are all car maintenance and repairs done on a car (oil changes/spark plugs etc) prior to leasing it out?

George Dingeldein: You're thinking of leasing a USED car? That's extremely rare - sounds like a scam! And no, maintenance/wear/damage is ALL on your nickel, my friend, unless it's explicitly stated in the contract - which I've NEVER heard of in a used-car lease.

Marion Wieboldt: There are no leases on 3 year old cars for the most part.The dealer doesn't pay for anything. They sell the car. After they sell it, its between the lender & the driver.Generally, any excess wear & tear and/or mileage is charged to the driver at lease end when they turn the car in.Most leases do not pay for oil changes & spark plugs but Im sure you could get that included if you are willing to pay a lot more.Normal maintenance is the drivers responsibility....Show more
