What are your opinions on global warming?

Ellis Cellar: get over it.

Charissa Riley: Jesus will come back before things get too bad.Oh no, I mentioned Jesus!!! Let the thumbs down begin.

Lorine Helwick: I say bring it on! Get Alaska melted down and we can prove once in for all Texas is still the Biggest state.Seriously makes a lot of money for a lot Colleges and Universities in research grants. They have got to justify their grants some way or the other. But the truth about it is somewhere in between. Not the Al Gore doomsday crowd and not the do nothing about pollution crowd....Show more

Catheryn Small: There are two things about global warming that really tick me off.....The first is all those people who consider Al Gore as the ulitmate expert on climate change, and these people run around like Chicken Little...."The sky is falling..."The second is all those people who think "scientists" in the Bush Administration are the ultimate experts on climate change, so these people walk around like Bo! bby McFerrin..."Don't worry, be happy."The truth is somewhere in between....Climate change is a natural phenomenom of a dynamic planet (a dynamic solar system, actually....it appears that the sun has been putting out more energy of late, and that ever planet in the solar system has been undergoing their own global warming)....in the past we have had tropical heat over most of the globe, and we have had ice ages....and human activity played NO part in either one...and there is nothing we can do to stop the climate from changing time and time again.HOWEVER...that is not to say that the things we spew into the air have no effect on our climate. The ozone holes at the poles shrink and grow cylically, but the CFC's we used to put into the atmosphere make them bigger. We cannot stop global warming, but greenhouse gasses in the volumes we currently belch into the atmosphere will certainly aggrevate that warming. We have to do everything we reasonably can to prevent this part of! the Earth's climate cycle from being rougher on us than it ha! s to be. I guess the best way to sum it up is like this.....Mother Nature may control global warming, but we control whether that warming will merely be uncomfortable and inconvenient for us humans, or whether it becomes an extinction level event. And I believe that while our effect on this aspect of global climate is small (but not insignificant), that is what will either pull us back from or send us shooting past that tipping point where this planet become uninhabitable.....we can't afford to take this lightly.....or screw it up....Show more
